April showers bring May flowers, but what do coastal storms bring? In this activity, learners will investigate the impacts of a hurricane on the New River in North Carolina using real data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Learners will investigate the causes and impacts of floods, evaluate streamflow velocity data to interpret the impacts of a storm on water quality and the environment, and predict the impacts of storms on wetland animals.
