In this math lesson, learners are introduced to proportional reasoning through modeling, sharing, and questioning techniques. After reading "Oliver's Fruit Salad," learners work together to solve several problems about imaginary fruit salads. Using pieces of fruit shaped candy, learners work in pairs and in small groups to solve other problems that build on the ones solved as a large group. Finally, learners share their solutions.
