Create beautiful spirals by drawing a straight line. This sounds crazy, but you can with a turntable (a record player or lazy susan), paper, and pen. Brought to you by the Exploratorium's Science Snacks.

Quick Guide
Materials List (per student)
- Paper and marking pens or butcher paper and sand
- An old record-player turntable (hunt for one at flea markets, thrift stores, on eBay—a lazy Susan with a square or circular board placed on it will also work, but it will have to be rotated by hand)
- Optional: A disk cut out of cardboard
