In this design challenge, learners will practice empathy and design thinking skills by creating an invention of the future. Learners will use the concept of user-centered design by learning about a fictional person, brainstorming solutions to a problem they face, and creating a concept sketch of their future thinking design idea. Activity includes a design thinking framework that will walk learners through the process step-by-step, sample "user cards" of fictional people and their needs, a sample concept sketch, two brainstorming outlines (Superhero and Future Thinking Mash-Up) and suggested activity extensions. A Spanish version of the activity is also available.
