In this activity, learners will experiment with changing flower colors. Learners will investigate the effects of acids and bases on flower colors. Activity includes step-by-step instructions and extension ideas. This activity uses easy to find materials. A Spanish version of the activity is also included.

- Dark red/pink/purple colored flower, such as a rose
- Small plastic baggie
- Water
- Teaspoon measure
- Small paint palette tray or ice cube tray (preferably light-colored)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 1 cup water
- White vinegar
- Pipette or dropper
