Learners practice their taxonomy skills by sorting a group of fasteners (e.g. rubber bands, buttons, paper clips, screws) into different categories. First they split the group into two groups based on function, then further divide these groups into smaller groups based on other criteria. In a second sorting activity, learners divide the fasteners into two groups based on appearance, and further subdivide. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Smart Attack game after they've completed several activities.
