In this activity, learners design and build their own parachute using household materials with the goal of landing their passenger safely on a target. This activity focuses on the design process- once learners make a parachute that works, they are prompted to try and improve upon their design to make it more aerodynamic. This activity comes with step-by-step instructions, suggested extensions, and recommended children's storybook connections. This activity uses inexpensive materials and can be done at home.
