In this activity, learners trap a thin layer of air between two pieces of Plexiglas to produce rainbow-colored interference patterns. Learners bend, twist, or press on the plates to observe patterns and then compare what happens when they place red plastic between the light source and the plates. Use this activity to introduce learners to constructive interference and destructive interference.
