Ziptop Bag Chemistry

In this chemistry activity, learners perform three chemical reactions in a sealed zip-top bag. Learners will record their observations and classify the changes as chemical or physical. This resource includes questions for answers to help learners interpret their observations and better understand chemical reactions.   • 1 Tbsp. calcium chloride
  • 2 Tbsp. sodium hydrogencarbonate or 2 Tbsp. baking soda
  • 30 mL water
  • 35 mm film canister (top optional) or 1 small paper cup of water
  • 30 mL indicator solution (phenol red) or 30 mL red cabbage juice
