In this activity, learners explore dinosaur skeletons and anatomy. Learners make observations about a T. rex skeleton diagram and then measure the skeleton length and width. Learners also match up toothpicks and craft sticks to the bones on the diagram, while using centimeter rulers to help get the right sizes. Next, learners place the diagram under a blank piece of paper and glue the toothpicks and craft sticks to build a model of the skeleton. Learners can alternatively use wire and clay to make a 3-D model of their dinosaurs. This activity is featured on page 41 of the "Dinosphere" unit of study for K-2 learners and is written as a bonus activity to be used at the end of a unit on dinosaurs and fossils.
