This is a simple and fun activity for learners to explore water and colors. The activity includes a time and age recommendation, a materials list, step-by-step set up instructions, recommendations for things to try and to notice, tips for adults, learning and skills connections, a "what's going on" section, and a note about doing STEAM with kids.

- Water
- Food coloring
- White paper or other similar material
- Wax paper
- A baking sheet, tray, or similar item with rimmed sides
- Smalls jars or containers - one for each color of food coloring
- Straws
