ASTC 2010 Workshop Activities

Created by sherryhsi, last updated 2015-11-13

These are the activities that were featured at the Association for Science-Technology Centers Annual meeting in Honolulu, October 2010. We tried to pick out activities that could use materials found in our hotel rooms, empty water bottles, and ones that involved sunblock, as well as some of our all time favorites.

Make Your Own Magnus Glider

Play with air and flight using this glider made from cups, tape, and rubber bands. We had fun seeing how participants invented different ways to wind up the glider and make mods to the glider body to get more lift. Styrofoam is getting hard to find, so someone may need to find an alternative material.
