This is part 3 of the three-part "Crayon Rock Cycle" activity. Before starting this section, learners must have completed part 1: sedimentary rock and part 2: metamorphic rocks. In this activity, learners explore how igneous rocks form. Learners place crayon shavings on an aluminum foil square and either place them outside in the sun or place them in the oven until liquefied. After the shavings harden, learners will have formed an igneous rock. Once their rock is formed, learners should draw their rock in their science journal. The activity guide contains step-by-step instructions, a background "Did You Know" section, an early childhood adaption section, and an extension "challenge" section.
