In this simple activity (on page 2 of the PDF), learners make a crystal garden using salt, water, and a brick. This is a take-home version of the display Crystal Garden in the Nature of Matter unit in OMSI's Chemistry Lab. Included on the PDF are two additional activities: Density and Layered Liquids.
