In this activity learners will investigate magnetic and non-magnetic items in a sensory bottle. Learners will use science process skills such as making observations and categorizing as they explore with magnets. Activity includes caregiver prompts and extension ideas. This activity is appropriate for ages 0-3 with adult supervision.

  • Clear plastic bottles with lid (any size)
  • Magnetic items (pipe cleaners, washers, paper clips, screws, bingo chips, bells, clothespins, safety pins)
  • Non-magnetic items (Beads, beans, rice, pompoms, plastic toys, rubber bands, shredded paper)
  • Glue or duct tape
