This activity demonstrates the importance of wearing a helmet to protect the brain. An egg is used to symbolize a head with the shell as the skull and the inside of the egg as the brain. One egg is dropped onto a newspaper and breaks open. A second egg is dropped, but this egg wears a "helmet" made out of paper, Styrofoam or other materials to cushion the egg's fall. Learners can participate in constructing safety helmets for the egg or simply watch the demonstration. Watermelons can also be used in place of eggs.
