In this activity, learners explore the concepts of natural selection and observable traits in a game that can be played at home. Before starting, caregivers will cut 180 segments of different colored yarn and sprinkle them throughout a grassy area. This yarn will represent a variety of "fuzzy worms" with different observable traits in their natural habitat. The goal of the game is to find and gather as many fuzzy worms possible in 1 minute. The activity guide contains adaptations for the game rules, pre-activity questions, and post-activity questions depending on the age of the learner, such as extension activities, making conclusions about which worms were more likely to survive, data collection, and graphing.
