In this hands-on activity, learners simulate the crashing and smashing of a meteor impact using household cooking supplies. Learners explore the formation of an impact crater by dropping projectiles into a powder covered container and recording their observations of the outcome. Activity includes step by step instructions with pictures and a "how does it work" section where ideas such as impact craters, meteoroids, the role of Earth's atmosphere and more are explained. This activity can be done at home.
