In this activity, learners will divide into teams or groups of equal size. “How many teams of three can we make?” “We need an equal number of children at each of the four computers. How many at each computer?” Next time learners need to get into groups or teams, tell them either the size of groups or the number of groups—then let them figure out the rest. Sound like a word problem? There’s a big difference. When learners actually care about the answer, they’ll use their everyday problem solving ability to find out.
