Active Touch

In this activity (14th activity on the page) about the sense of touch, learners examine if it is easier or harder to identify an object if they move their hands over it. Working in pairs, one learner closes her eyes, while the other learner presses an object or cookie cutter into the first learner's hand. She must try to guess what the object is without opening her eyes or moving her hand. If she cannot identify the object, she can move her hands over the object and explore it with her fingertips. Learners conclude which is easier.
